Finally after a long time of 15 years Gurmeet Ram Rahim exposed. In 2002, a letter from an anonymous Sadhvi reached the PM and exposed the inhumane doings of Ram Rahim Singh. The unknown sadhvi’s letter exposed that the Dera Chief’s ki gufa that Dera Sacha Sauda has, is not just the baba’s resting place but that place is also used to exploit innocent girls who go there because of family pressure. After the court’s decision the crowd of Dera Sacha Sauda become havoc and this crowd is the families that have blind faith in that Dhongi Baba.

And now this Dhongi Baba was brought to the prison on Friday, when he was found guilty of raping two women followers and convicted, Ram Rahim, the head of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect, has continuously wept and refused to speak to anyone or eat solid food, accepting only sips of milk and water.

For almost over a decade this monster walked among us and we couldn’t do anything because the judiciary was still investigating. However, the Indian judicial system restored our faith after convicting Ram Rahim Singh in the 2002 rape case.

According to the source, the letter by the Sadhvi states,

In the past years there have been lots of girls with her in the Dera who have been continuously being subjected to being raped by the Chief of Dera – Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Further the letter stated that she along with other 40-45 girls was serving the Dera and had become a sadhvi due to her parent’s aspirations. After two years when she became a sadhvi, she was called into the ‘gufa’ (cave) of Ram Rahim.

The Sadhvi claims that she was told by Ram Rahim that she was his property. And that he will kill her if she refuses the order. He said her family has intense faith in him and would never dare go against him. The sadhvi’s letter claims that she was threatened and raped by Ram Rahim repeatedly. She also wrote that there were other women who also have been victims of sexual exploitation, from the Dera Chief. Mentioning a girl from Sangrur, the Sadhvi wrote that she was threatened with guns by sevadaars of the Dera when she shared her plight in her neighborhood after leaving the Dera.

The woman was anonymous and CBI had a hard time tracing her. However, in 2007, CBI finally traced two victims to file a charge-sheet against Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The High Court investigated the matter for almost 15 years and finally gave a conviction stating that Ram Rahim Singh is guilty of all the charges.

The victim and families will get a great relief after the court’s sentencing but it had not been for Ram Chander Chhatrapati, editor of Poora Sach, a daily newspaper published from Sirsa who write a letter that accused Ram Rahim of sexual assault and rape.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim exposed by Ram Chander but it led to him being murdered outside his home in October 2002.

Now the “wild beast” is sentenced to jail for 20 years but it is just half the battle won.
